A Flash photo gallery of pictures shot over five separate trips to Los
Angeles.
An
examination of efforts currently underway to solve environmental problems
and prepare for future growth in the Los Angeles area. Despite its reputation
for being dirty, crowded, and plagued with environmental problems, the
Los Angeles area has in some ways moved to the forefront of sustainable
development. Three of those areas are water recycling, alternatively-fueled
vehicle fleets, and large-scale commitment to green building.
This Master’s Project explores the three areas of sustainable development
in which Los Angeles excels. Text, audio, video, photos and animation
are used to explain accomplishments, concepts and processes and to tour
several exemplary projects.
I created this web site on the history and rediscovery of the historic
Cerrito Theater as a project for my mulitmedia skills course, in Spring
2002. The site uses text, images and digital video to tell the story of
the past, present and possible future of the 1937 art deco theater.
This summer the El Cerrito City Council voted to purchase the theater
building, and restoration plans are beginning.
In the Spring of 2003 I helped the staff of the Western Knight Center
for Specialized Journalism train mid-career journalists in multimedia
reporting. In
addition to assiting participants during two week-long training sessions
in March and May, I also produced content for the associated web site,
and did the video camera and accessory photos.
